flower wreath

It is a tradition in Greece to make a wreath of flowers on May day.
We say "I caught May".
Then, hang it out of the house door or on the balcony.

The dried wreath will be thrown in one of the fires
that people light in the streets,
in June, on St John's day.

I think there was a similar tradition here, but probably was lost with the new generations.

I like traditions!
I am afraid that the second part-the burning of the wreath, is not performed widely any more.

Valeria :)

Athens, the capital of Greece, with more than 3.000.000 people....
It's not just ancient ruins and pollution.
Its' also the suburbs, everyday people, gardens, bitter orange trees.
