15.2.10

night walk

A street in Ilion during an evening walk.
Spring is almost here!

7.12.09

red candle

I had a hot chocolate with a friend, today
in "flocafe" besides my house.
Everything is Cristmas-decorated
and that makes me calm and happy!

31.10.09

lemons and oranges

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

31.8.09

under pine trees

There is a coffee shop named "terra petra" in Petroupoli,
peaceful and cool in summer mornings,
where you can have a nice view of the city
from above.

23.8.09

a windy day

Saturday 9:00 a.m.

The smoke of the fire in East Attica
covered the sun.

UPDATE:
maybe I did not explain well enough...
That orange sky may be very beautiful,
like a Terner's painting
-that is what I also thought at first,
but
it is because of the big fire in East Attica
which keeps on for 3rd day today,
burning the suburbs and
taking people out of their homes.

7.8.09

empty street

Last Sunday, early in the morning,
during my walk for newspapers.

Empty streets in summer,
morning breeze,
delight of life.

3.6.09

color of terracotta

A sudden rain this afternoon.
But still, spring around!

19.5.09

pansies

Coffee in a friend's bancony.
With flowers and Sunday news.

3.5.09

flag-gαrland

Santa Barbara church in Ilion.

2.5.09

flower wreath

It is a tradition in Greece to make a wreath of flowers on May day.
We say "I caught May".
Then, hang it out of the house door or on the balcony.

The dried wreath will be thrown in one of the fires
that people light in the streets,
in June, on St John's day.

18.4.09

green salads and beetroots

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

(Even on Holy Saturday:
Today, people buy bunches of green onions,
lettuces and lots of dill, to cook with lamb's haslets,
and make a soup called "magiritsa",
eaten only on this day of the year.)

5.4.09

while walking

a garden on the pavement...

23.3.09

bitter oranges

There are a lot of bitter-orange-trees in Athens.
I still can not get enough of them!
I like them in blossom in the spring-odoring our night walks,
and the whole year round-like orange decorated christmas trees everywhere in the city!

21.3.09

a life of poetry

One girl in a garden.
Two women in a flower pot.
Three girls in my heart.
Without borders, without conditions.

* a poem by the surrealist poet Andreas Embirikos.
(I have chosen a small one, easy for me to translate!)

* a park in Ilion.

14.3.09

green pepers and zucchini

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

12.3.09

all day rain

Returning home in a rainy afternoon.

11.3.09

light blue

Strong sun, heavy shadows. This is spring.

7.3.09

onions and garlic

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.
Athens, the capital of Greece, with more than 3.000.000 people....
It's not just ancient ruins and pollution.
Its' also the suburbs, everyday people, gardens, bitter orange trees.
