cafe-patisserie

Inside an old-traditional patisserie in Kifisia.
Kind of out-of-fashion and dirty
but gives you a strange, tender feeling.

21.9.09

autumn rain

As seen from Petroupoli,
On the right an old furnace,
not used any more but nice to see.
On the left Petroupoleos str,
straight, long, green on both sides.

Ypsountos street

Here is where I park my car every morning
in order to get in the metro.

It is not so peaceful and parking-available
in the winter, but still,
I like walking through, it is a nice street
that always makes my day!

7.6.09

summer morning

Early Sunday morning:
the cross-road of Thivon str, and Leoforos Athinon str.
A really rare moment:
this is usually one of the most traffic-heavy points in the city.

3.6.09

color of terracotta

A sudden rain this afternoon.
But still, spring around!

18.4.09

green salads and beetroots

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

(Even on Holy Saturday:
Today, people buy bunches of green onions,
lettuces and lots of dill, to cook with lamb's haslets,
and make a soup called "magiritsa",
eaten only on this day of the year.)

14.4.09

flying garden

who said you can not have a garden when you live in a flat?

12.4.09

saint anthoni

Metro station Agios (saint) Antonios, again.
Photo taken from upstairs this time.

5.4.09

while walking

a garden on the pavement...

1.4.09

and a green broom!

Visiting friends: their nice balcony and plants.

30.3.09

sun after raining

Metro station Agios (saint) Antonios.
The sign shows the "exit".

26.3.09

yellow

There are many such, unexpected,
forgotten (to be build!) pieces of land, in Athens.
In spring, they flower as expected!

23.3.09

bitter oranges

There are a lot of bitter-orange-trees in Athens.
I still can not get enough of them!
I like them in blossom in the spring-odoring our night walks,
and the whole year round-like orange decorated christmas trees everywhere in the city!

21.3.09

a life of poetry

One girl in a garden.
Two women in a flower pot.
Three girls in my heart.
Without borders, without conditions.

* a poem by the surrealist poet Andreas Embirikos.
(I have chosen a small one, easy for me to translate!)

* a park in Ilion.

14.3.09

green pepers and zucchini

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

12.3.09

all day rain

Returning home in a rainy afternoon.

11.3.09

light blue

Strong sun, heavy shadows. This is spring.

7.3.09

onions and garlic

Every Saturday: street market in Ilion.

5.3.09

early afternoon

Big blocks of flats (“laborers’s homes”) just outside the entrance of metro station Aghios Antonios, in Peristeri.
Winter. Early afternoon. Freezing cold.

26.2.09

february flowers

A balcony with beautiful flowers, despite the deep winter cold, in a house near metro station Aghios Antonios, in Peristeri.
Athens, the capital of Greece, with more than 3.000.000 people....
It's not just ancient ruins and pollution.
Its' also the suburbs, everyday people, gardens, bitter orange trees.
