St.Nikolaos Ragkavas (II)

Was build about 1040-1050.
The name Ragkavas comes
from a famous Athenian family.
At first it was a private church,
but since many years is a public one.

Very interesting information here,
but you have to translate it in your language...

St.Nikolaos Ragkavas (I)

The back yard of St.Nikolaos Ragkavas, in Plaka.
We were there for a twin-girls christening, on Saturday morning.
An oasis to hide from the burning sunlight.

byzantine view

This is the front side of Church Agioi Theodoroi, a beautiful small building of 11th century, in a central point of Athens.
Today, it was a very cold but also very sunny day, and there were some tourists visiting the church.

And this it the back side, a quiet (and relaxing for the eyes) place to have a coffee (in summer!).
Athens, the capital of Greece, with more than 3.000.000 people....
It's not just ancient ruins and pollution.
Its' also the suburbs, everyday people, gardens, bitter orange trees.
