a bookshop

This is the ground floor of the Eleftheroudakis bookshop,
near the Syntagma metro station,
in the heart of the city.

Eight floors of books (!) and
a quiet coffee corner on the sixth floor.
Heaven!

8 FLOORS! I need to go there at some point of life. Bookstores here aren't very good (plus books have VAT here), so I often go to Argentina to buy good and cheap books.

Great place - one I'd have to explore! And a stop at the coffe/treat bar!

Lemon apparentely wants to have a book store after her retirement...
And a half of those books will be old historical Japanese books, I think!

Ahahahaha, Nori knows me very well, I think!!
In Greece we have a saying "from your mouth, to Gods ear" Nori. Means that may this wish you said, will come true one day!!

I avoid Chilean bookstores as much as possible because they are expensive (even more for a student's pocket) since we are a small country, so most books have to be imported from Argentina or Spain. Plus, the exchange rate is really good. If I need a book, I either buy it secondhand, or, to my disgrace, I photocopy it or buy an illegal copy. I only hope that the candidates for the upcoming presidential election promise to take out taxation on books.

Oh yes, that is indeed heaven!

I almost missed this post with all these revealing details. Eight floors of books would be interesting even in a language I barely can spell...

I love Eleftheroudakis :-)

Athens, the capital of Greece, with more than 3.000.000 people....
It's not just ancient ruins and pollution.
Its' also the suburbs, everyday people, gardens, bitter orange trees.
